Handwritten Note
Client notes are an important part of your business development plan. A hand-written note expressing a sincere message of thanks, appreciation, apology, congratulations, special occasion greeting, condolence, or just for passing information along creates a tangible connection in a world where intangible, transitory messages disappear with one quick click.
But what should I say?
If you struggle to find just the right thing to say, you are in good company. But, you don't have to stare down that blank page alone. There are a number of excellent books that will help you craft the perfect message for each situation. Here's one that is particularly good. Choosing the right papers for your notes
There are three types of note-writing papers. Choose those that suit the situation and your style. Be sure to select good quality paper. Consider imprinting your initials or name on the papers you choose. Embossing is another option. Custom embossers can be ordered from fine stationery stores and office suppliers like Office Depot, Office Max and Staples.
- Letter sheets (7 1/4" x 10 1/4") fold in thirds to fit inside a matching envelope. This size is a good choice for longer notes.
- Correspondence cards (4 1/4" x 6 1/4") are single, unfolded panels of heavy card stock. They slip into a matching envelope or can be used alone as a postcard.
- Fold-over notes come in a variety of sizes and can fold along the top or left side. They may be blank or have a printed "Thank You" or other message on the front.
A word about postage stamps
A hand-written note loses much of its impact when it is run through the postage meter. Use a real stamp to complete your personal message.
